Jermaine Jones chooses US

27 year old Schalke midfielder has decided to switch allegiances from Germany to the US. He can do this because of the new rule saying that if you play 3 matches or less for a national team that are friendlies you can still switch to a nation if you have a passport.

I understand that his decision is primarily based on whom he will get more playing time with, but adding him to the team is great for the US. He is a strong holding midifielder with arguably more ability than anyone else on the squad at that position. Starting him would allow Michael Bradley to play a more offensive minded game. In my opinion this is great. While Bradley won't wow you with his passing or technical ability, he has shown a knack for being in great positions to score goals and he can also shoot from distance. Simply put, by strengthening the defense in the midfield the US can become a better attacking team.
